Gehört hatte ich schon von dem angeblich besten Cupcake-Laden in der Gumpendorferstrasse im 6. Bezirk in Wien. Richtig Lust darauf gemacht hat mir aber meine Bloggerkollegin Shooting Vienna in einem Beitrag vom Februar 2014. (:
Also war ich heute dort und hab mir im Take-Away 6 Stück mitgenommen:
Man bekommt sie in solchen kleinen Boxen á 3 Stück:
Wir haben 3 vegane und 3 „normale“ genommen:
VEGAN: Schokolade (links), Erdnussbutter (Mitte) & Mandel (rechts)
English: Chocolate (left), Peanutbutter (Middle) & Almond (right)
NICHT VEGAN: (oben, v.l.): Nutella, Erdbeer-Vanille & Ovomaltine
English: Nutella (left), Strawberry-Vanilla (Middle) & Ovomaltine (right)
Nun zum Laden selbst: Es ist ein kleiner, süßer Laden mit wenigen Tischen, an denen die Gäste zusammen sitzen und Kaffee, Kakao oder Limonaden trinken. Wir wurden dort sehr freundlich behandelt und man hat uns gleich die laktosefreien (bzw. veganen) und „normalen“ Cupcakes mit Toppings erklärt. Was den Preis angeht, gibt es ein tolles Angebot im Brass Monkey: nimmt man 5 Cupcakes (2,80€/Stück) ist der 6. gratis (: Neben den Cupcakes gibt es aber auch andere Backwaren wie Kuchen (werden auch demnächst ausprobiert!).
Bei den Öffnungszeiten darf man sich freuen: auch am Sonntag lohnt sich ein Besuch! Aber wahrscheinlich ist es für L-free-Essende am einfachsten am „Vegan Monday“, an dem alle Süßwaren vegan sind. Trotzdem gab es für mich auch heute genug Auswahl.
Fazit: Die Cupcakes waren ein Traum! Der Teig war fluffig und nicht zu süß, die Toppings cremig und fein. Ich kann gar nicht sagen, welcher mein Favorit ist, aber der Erdnussbutter-Cupcake hat etwas von Snickers, dieses süß vs. salzig mag ich sehr gerne (: Im Geschmack war für uns kein Unterschied zwischen vegan und „normal“ zu erkennen.
Unbedingt mal reinschauen! Schmeckt, duftet und macht Spaß (:

I had already heard about the said-to-be best cupcake-shop in the Gumpendorferstrasse in the 6th district in Vienna. I really wanted to try it after I read a post by my blogger-colleague Shooting Vienna from February 2014 (:
So I went there today and got myself 6 cupcakes for take-away: You get them in those small boxes á 3 cupcakes: (photos in german version)
We got 3 „normal“ ones and 3 vegan ones:
VEGAN: Chocolate, Peanutbutter & Almond
NON-VEGAN: Nutella, Strawberry-Vanilla & Ovomaltine
Getting to know to the shop itself: It’s a sweet, little shop with just a small amount of tables, on which the guests sit together and enjoy their coffee, hot chocolate or lemonades. We were treated very friendly when we came in and someone explained the cupcakes (lactosefree/vegan and „normal“) with the different toppings to us. When it comes to the price there is a special offer at Brass Monkey’s: if you buy 5 cupcakes (one is 2,80€), you get a sixth for free! Besides the cupcakes they also offer (big) cakes and different other pastries (…I’ll try soon!).
Opening hours: You can also enjoy the cupcakes on Sunday, because they’re open. Lactosefree eating people will love Mondays, because there they have the „Vegan Monday“, where everything is vegan. Though it is Tuesday they had enough to choose from for me today.
Conclusion: The cupcakes were amazing! The dough was fluffy and not too sweet, the toppings creamy and smooth. I really can’t tell which one is my favourite, but the peanutbutter one somehow tastes like Snickers and I really like that taste of sweet vs. salty (: Furthermore I couldn’t figure out a difference in the taste between „normal“ and vegan cupcakes.
You really need to try it out! It tastes so well, smells so well and moreover: it’s fun (:
